Hi all, ive never been to a computer fair before and their is one in my local area soon so im thinking about going, is it safe enough to buy memory their and is there anything that i should loo out for? ive heard in the passt of people being ripped off? do i just have to use my common sense or is it best if i just buy memory from a shop or on the web? cos i dont want to be ripped off :D Thanks

As a general rule, i'd say make sure you know what you're buying, and don't get taken in by sales pitches. Many sellers will say anything to make a sale, knowing that they're less likely to be held responsible for it than if they were selling in a store.

I'd only make an expensive purchase from someone who sells at the fair regularly, and thus is likely to be there if your item fails the following week.

Make sure you get a receipt, and are fully aware of the warranty terms before buying.

I do make purchases from computer fairs, but it's mainly in second hand equipment that I can't find in a store, or consumables such as ink and DVD media. I find that prices on new items are often comparable to, or even more expensive than in a retail store.

hey man, thanks, yeah i was just a little wary and cheap prices are appealing but at the end of the day it has to be good quality, thanks!!!

It's like a Flea Market.

Make sure you know your stuff before you go. And, negotiate! hehe

I personally go there all the time, usually where I get all my stuff.
