Computer feedback

Hello everyone.

I'm looking at buying a new computer, and have found one that seems to look pretty good.

I plan to be using it for games (including Sims 2, World of Warcraft etc) and some video editing. The specs are:

Intel Core-2 Quad Q6600 on Gigabyte Intel P35 Chipset, 2x1GB DDRII 800 Kingmax Ram, 400GB Samsung SATA II HDD, 512mb Geforce 8500GT PCI Express graphics, LG 18X DVD R/W

It's selling for $AUD999 (just over $US850)

I'm considering upgrading the graphics to the 8800GT (an extra $US200). Would this give much of an improvement in gaming performance??

Thanks in advance for any feedback/suggestions :)

yes the 8800 card is worth the difference if you play very graphically intensive games. I would spend the extra if it were me, however with the games you listed, a high end card is not really necessary. It really just depends on whether you will be playing those newer taxing games or not.

At the moment the computer I have wouldn't handle any of the newer games, but my brother has a newer and has a few games I'd like to try out. I will probably go with the graphics upgrade.

What is your opinion on the computer as a whole??

I argee with bigbird, the sims and wow don't require much. I think my 5200 Geforce and 512 ram could run them.

I am getting a similar system although maybe the E8200. Where are you getting yours from? (I'm auz too)

GPU will need upgrade. 3850/ 3870/ 8800GT. Depends on your budget.
Don't know when E8XXX will arrive AUS, E8400 may be a good alternative choice.
