Computer freezes anytime I use my Lexar USB card reader.

I use http://www.lexar.com/readers/multi.html for my Micro SD/TransFlash card that I use to store pics from my phone. When I first started using the card reader, it went smooth. Now the computer locks up whenever the reader is plugged into the USB port. The Power light stays illuminated on the reader and the Transferring data light will come on then go off until I unplug it. Once I pull the plug out of the USB, then the computer is fine again.
