One of my PC's freezes(keyboard and all) with no error message, I have to hard restart it.but the thing is, its random.sometimes it freezes on the log-on screen, sometimes when ive been on for 20min.,just when ever it feels like it.I just need to know what can be causing it to freeze.I have not installed NO new hardware/software recently.I think it started to freeze when my friend hook his iphone through the USB cable to my PC.When he hook it up it froze right away, had to hard restart.ever since than its been acting up with these random freezes.any advice on this matter would be great.

XP 32bit,athlon 3800+,2x1 pny,7300gt,400w ultra.

Random freezes are very difficult to pin down as you know. Thermal issues are not likely if they occur during cold boot. I would look at hardware for starters:
Device Manager to see if there are any warnings
An HDD utility to check the SMART data
Run a memory test such as memtest86
Reinstall USB drivers given the iPhone episode

Scan for malware

Please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under Select log to query, select:
Application
System

Under Select type to list, select:
Critical (Vista only)
Error

Click the radio button for Number of events
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

If I were you I would try to do a System Restore. Restore your system to a date before your friend plugged the new device into your computer.
