Computer freezing at boot up

My computer keeps freezing at the boot menu. And it says "Press DEL to enter SETUP" and when I press del nothing happens. I found out by clicking the num lock button and del really fast that I was able to get to the setup menu. But even from here I don't know how to fix the issue. I've tried getting into the BIOS but every time I try to load them it just says "Please Wait! System Bios Information Checking." and it never gets past that screen. If anyone knows what this issue could be, please response asap. Thank you :)
 
Disconnect the power and data cable from hard drive and see if the computer responds like normal. This is usually signs of hardware failure.
 
Well, we just need to find out what piece of hardware is causing the problem. Try the cd rom drive next. Do you have any addon cards installed?

Seems like I unplugged the wrong thing. Sorry about that. Well I unplugged the power and data cable to the hard drive and when I turned on the pc. It booted up like normal and the keyboard started working finally. But when I clicked 'enter' a screen came up saying "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER". I tried going to boot menu but it said boot failed. And I am still able to access the setup menu

That just means there is no hard drive connected now. But now this means your hard drive has failed. You will need a new one.
 
It doesn't mean the hard drive has failed yet. Only connect the windows drive (that one only) and try again.

If that drive is his only drive in the system then the drive has failed. If the system won't even boot with the failed drive in the system, how can you even run a diagnostic on the drive? I've seen this exact same issue many times before and its always a failed hard drive and you can't repair it.

Im not saying you're necessarily incorrect, but unless I'm missing something...

This just means that the system cannot find a Windows installation. This can be fixed simply by conducting a repair of the MBR, or ensuring the BIOS conditions are correct. Nothing there is conclusively a HDD failure, and the system does indeed boot with it connected.

In my view, he needs to clear the CMOS, reset the BIOS boot priority and boot from the Windows DVD and repair the install.

The original "error message" is a common sign of a flat CMOS battery.

You aren't reading correctly or something. The boot process freezes at the post screen with the bad hard drive attached to the system. Without the hard drive attached, system boots as normal but gets operating system not found error message. Of course it's not gonna find an OS because the drive is not connected. I've seen this so many times and it's the same outcome. Bad hard drive. Open and shut case.
 
You're almost certainly correct, but the reason im being persistent here, is that the original message relates to the BIOS, nothing to do with Windows. A corrupt BIOS can cause this problem, like here, and here. These are obviously not the same configurations, but you get the point.

It doesn't hurt to try and reset the CMOS now, does it, or recover the BIOS via a manufacturer's approach? Id be trying that and a repair via boot from Windows DVD before buying a new HDD.

I don't agree its an open and shut case, but I do agree its very likely a failed drive, worth investigating all options prior to a HDD purchase.

^This is the correct diagnosis in this case.
