Computer freezup

Just had a computer freeze up.Computer started and loaded up but I could nt do anything on my screen,mouse worked but was unable to activate anything without freeze up.
Know I didn't do the next part but this is how I think it was done.
The windows xp disk was put in and computer restarted.Options of
1) Windows Microsoft XP
2) windows Microsoft XP setup
These probably both were tryed and it sends it to a page that says :
The file dtscsi.sys is corrupted
Press any key to continue.
Which in turn will restart the computer and lead back to the 2 options again.
I am able if I go to Windows Microsoft xp to get into my computer as normal but I get a error message (that I can click off) that says: Internet explorer has been shutdown to" prevent damage or something like that".When I get to desktop.

In error report error signature:

Now when I start my computer I get the 2 selections of windows xp or the setup selection even with the disk out.
Will I need to f-disk to fix this? comments appreciated.

The fdisk command for some problems seen when a system is unable to boot normally is the "fdisk /mbr" command used with a startup floppy(98-ME) or booting from the XP installation cd to choose the "R" for recovery console option prior to starting the installer for Windows. The problem described sounds more like a change was made in the "boot.ini" file generally hidden from view at the root of the hard drive usually "C:>".

With Windows NotePad you can edit the boot.ini file after unchecking the "hide protected operating system files" option found in the "views" tab of the "folders options". The following is what should be seen on most XP systems running a single hard drive only.
