Computer/Gaming Issue

helpp please

Every time I run any type of java application on my computer (minecraft, runescape, etc.), my computer will almost instantly crash. My computer is brand new, just built. it has a new radeon hd 6870 graphics card and 8 gbs of RAM, yet it can't run these games for more than a few minutes. Can anyone help?

(my computer crashes by blue screening and telling me to reset)
 
Do other games work or have you only tried these? Make sure that you've downloaded the latest video card drivers from ati.com. The one's from the CD probably aren't very recent.
