Computer having problems, might be windows 7

my friend has a HP Touchsmart with Windows 7. Unfortunately, he dropped it. Now the desktop basically doesn't work. You can't click on the bottom taskbar, and the icons on the desktop only have the blue circle thing going around. The only thing that works is the top taskbar that pops down. His task manager doesn't even work. Any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks.

sounds like he damaged a few things... I wouldn't be surprised if the hard drive was dead/dying.

Well, what you can try to do is fix the windows but if he continues
doing the same problem you have to change the hard disk.
To try to fix windows do this:
Start
All Programs
Acessories
Right click in the icon that says Command Prompt
choose the option Run as Administrator
When the Dos window pops up:
Write "chkdsk/f" without the quotes
anwser "y" to the question and press enter.
Reboot the computer and let him do the scan (it gonna take
a lot of minutes)
Hope that helps
