Computer Help Needed...HELP Please

I am having major issues getting my desktop to connect to the internet. I recently moved and when I packed away my hardrive, it was working fine and connecting to the net with no problems at all. After setting it all up here at my new home, all works fine, but it will not connect to the net. I am connecting with a cable modem thru comcast and when I plug the same line into my wife's laptop...what I am using right now...it has no problems at all. So, it has to be something with my comp and due to the move. Any ideas what I need to check to resolve this issue? If you need to ask me questions to better answer mine, please do so. I really would like to get this issue solved. Thank you very much in advance.

Are you sure your plugging the cable into the right port? I've seen it before. Also, do you have another card to stick into your computer to test the one you have now? If you do, then try that, after checking that the cable is in th right port.
