hello all i have recently sold my laptop and got a desktop computer an oldish one and have been updating it.

it had 512 ram in and i have updated that to 1.71gb which i notice a HUGE difference, and the computer is super quick loading and changing between tasks, the only problem i seem to have is with the internet browser i have tried several, the problem i have is with viewing video. you tube works fine but when i go full screen i get some lag, also with adverts on certain websites and moving images seem to make my computer lag so much, why is this? i no its not the ram or the internet because my old laptop worked fine with 1gb ram and the same internet. i think its my video card or graphics card as it is only 32mb here are what i found about my machine from a program i downloaded if anyone could pin point why they think it might be lagging i would very much appreciate it. only seems to lag with internet graphics, my DVDs play perfect on it

thanks

You can get a super cheap videocard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102817&cm_re=hd4350-_-14-102-817-_-Product for example if your board has PCI-E; if it has AGP you can try http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...5&cm_re=agp_video_card-_-14-139-165-_-Product but you pay way more money for what you're getting with the dead AGP connection) that will render video much more quickly, but I don't think that's your problem.

Go to www.speedtest.net and post your download speeds and ping.

You've got plenty of ram for that system, but it is a very old processor, likely the dead socket 939 which severely limits the chip's you could upgrade to. Finding a new one will be almost impossible, but Ebay usually has a Socket 939 Dual Core which should work just fine with your motherboard. You will notice a huge performance gain with a new chip and hd video card.
