im looking to build a new computer, but then i found a computer that i can easily upgrade..

im going to do some gaming on it nothing too hardcore,

if i get a dual core (2.7) will it be too slow ?
it has 6 gb of ddr2 ram

i am planning on getting a new videocard

That seems alright, plenty of RAM!

If its for general gaming get a general graphics card = Not the best but definetly not the cheapest one - get one in the middle = 512Mb ~ 1GB video card

I think that should be fine, if i'm wrong for the size (memory) of video card please anyone point it out for me.

Hope this helped

The question/specs are very vague. The processor speed has little impact when comparing to actual processor performance and architecture. The old Pentium 4 3.8GHz would be obliterated by pretty much any current Core2 processor regardless of the clock rate. As long as the processor is one from the current generation, though, you should be fine.

RAM; 6GB is fine, just be sure you have a 64bit operating system or else you'll be stuck with ~3.25GB RAM. Also, 6GB seems like an odd amount for a dual core processor. I'm not really up on all my processors, but I was thinking just the i7's had triple-channel RAM where as all others still used dual channel. You might be best off getting 2x2GB or 2x4GB. Though, I'm probably wrong... :o I need to research this a bit more.

Video cards; don't purchase one just based on RAM. You can find very cheap/low-end graphics cards with tons of memory but no processing power to back it up. Usually something with between 512MB-1GB should be fine, but be sure it's something around the middle-range. It may even be worth considering some previous generation cards. What I normally do is search on Newegg according to my price range and user ratings. Once I found some cards that look good, I find how they stack up by searching on google for benchmarks between the cards. Finding how GPUs perform in the real world is about the only way to see how they actually perform considering how misleading written specs can be.

is it silly for me to get a dual core at this point? or should i just suck it up, save my cash and get and i5 or i7. im basicly planning on playing wow, any hopefully picking up a fps, but nothing too serious.
