ok im noob when it comes to this so go easy on me if i asked like the most simplest question about computer. not sure if i made the right choice about buying this gaming computer so comments and suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

cpu = AMD FX8150 AMD 8 Core 3.6GHZ
cpu cooler = Standard AMD cooler
gpu = Zotec GeForce 650TI 2GB
ram = 8GB Kingston 1600
mobo = Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0
psu = LIAN LI 850W
ssd = Intel 330series 120g
hhd = Seagate 1T 7200rpm

questions:
1) how far can i put my game settings for example starcraft 2?
2) can i change my cpu cooler to an aftermarket liquid cooler? the stock cooler is already installed fyi
3) can i use a different brand for the ram but with same speed, will it affect the speed?
4) how can i overclock my cpu speed bump it up to 3.8 or 4.0?

1) starcraft isn't a very demanding game and the 650 Ti is basically a mid-high GPU so you should be able to reach very high or even maxed graphic settings.

2)liquid cooling is for tryhards, I'd stick with an aftermarket heatsink if you are only doing light to average overclocking, its usually good enough for most people. just keep an eye on your temps at first.

3)8GB of RAM is usually more than enough since most people probably won't even reach 6GB. Are you asking if you can switch it out for a different brand, as long as its the right DDR type for your motherboard, yes (DDR3 I'd assume since your rig is fairly new).

or are you asking can you mix 2 different brands? I wouldn't recommend it but I hear it is possible if they are the same speeds, timing, and voltage as well as being in the correct slots, for example one brand would be in 1 and 3 are together and the other in 2 and 4.

4) I'm not that big into overclocking atm so I am going to avoid this question.

sounds like you already bought it. There are a few adjustments I'd make but overall it's a pretty good setup.

CPU - I would probably go for cheaper FX6300 instead
Video card - for the saved from CPU, go for AMD 7850 instead
Mobo - Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 is good, but not cheap. Do you really need that?
RAM - DDR3 1866 would be better.
PSU - I am not aware lian li doing psu. how much is it? Since you choose sabertooth with 850W psu, can i assume you are planning to dual video card?
SSD - could probably go for cheaper samsung 840

im thinking of doing sli/crossfire in the future, not anytime soon. is there a huge difference between the fx6300 and fx8150 performance wise? the gpu isnt a good choice huh?

The FX-6300 is a little better because games often can only fully utilize 2 cores and the FX-6300 has slightly stronger individual cores. Overall, the FX-8150 really isn't bad, it's the FX-8120 that can be due to its very weak individual cores.

As time goes on, this is becoming less of a problem because CPU restrictions are becoming less apparent. The FX-8150 is, however, better than the FX-6300 when it comes to multithreading although I am not sure if you will be doing enough to need anything better than a FX-6300. The FX-8350 is like the FX-6300 version of the FX-8150 when it comes to individual core strength.

650 Ti is fine but there are better choices such as the Radeon 7850 because it recently dropped in price like twice in a row, at least on newegg. It also depends on the games you play.

I didn't go into details because it sounded like you already bought it, although now it sounds like you didn't.

I was also going to say that the PSU was likely overkill but since you are open to SLI or Crossfire, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it now, assuming it has enough PCI-E connectors, then again, you can always get adapters to solve such an issue if it arises.

hey man thanks for the great information! wanted to ask what if i decide to upgrade my cpu cooler, can i still do that even though a standard cooler is already in use? again thank you!

you should be able to take out the standard cooler and replace it with the aftermarket heatsink + fan as long as it is compatible with your CPU socket type.

you might have to take out the entire motherboard, not entirely sure though. Also, I don't know if they all are rather annoying to install but mine pissed me off quite a bit at first so be prepared xd

ok so i made my computer.. everything loads well until windows... the only problems i get are these... 1) my computer for some reason disconnects the hdd thus making my hdd unavailable, not sure i the cables are connected properly or what. 2) every time i start a game for example, starcraft 2, game loading then as soon as it finishes loading i get a random lag/not responding/freezing time for like 10 sec then ill hear my cpu or gpu to make a beep then the game runs smoothly/stable condition. any help?
