Hello, I am new to this forum, I have a problem I know how to build a computer just I can't pick out parts very well. So I wanted to come to the pros... I have a $900 budget. And yes I have read Praetors computer help posts but I dont like the one he has for two reason's (no offense Praetor its a good post) 1. I don't buy OEM product I have had a very bad experience with them (long story), and I only like geforce cards not ATI's. I know I may sound foolish but plz help me. For a card I wanted a Gefroce 6800 Xtreme but alot of people tell me that stinks. Also this computer is for games and I only buy from newegg. Thank you for all the help I appreciate it, I knew you guys could help me beacuse this is the :D best computer forum Ive been to yet (I like the setup).

there i believe that even leaves you alittle room left over to upgrade whatever part or parts of those you feel nesseary or buy new optical drives i dont know if you have them to use or not. some of the parts are the same or simalr to the ones i have and i like my computer very much.

No offense i didnt like your $900 setup and some of the links wont work
Also I dont buy OEM products and ATI video cards

In this forum are we aloud to ask questions?

first off i would advise waiting for the release of the AM2 on june 6th, but if u dont want to wait:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz w/ 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor
Mobo: ASUS A8N5X ATX AMD Motherboard
RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR400 (PC3200)
Video Card: HIS Hightech Radeon X850XT IceQ II 256MB (it isn't geforce so if u want u can switch... but it is still a very nice card)
Sound Card:Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS u can always get that somewhere else if u dont want OEM, but that is just fine...
CD/DVD: LITE-ON Black IDE DVD Burner
PSU: Rosewill RP550-2 550W Power Supply
Cooling: Thermaltake CL-P0257 Blue orb II CPU Cooler (very nice, my friend has it and he OCs well) i recomend this if u are gona OC
Approx $950 not including a case or OS which u can pick out...

so if u want to knock a few $$$ off u could get this processor instead and it would come to around $880

no offence... but dont ask us what u want if u already know what u want...
this doesn't meet all of ur guidlinesexcept ur budget and purpose...

Sorry for missing the intent. With reference to my system:
1. You said you didnt like some of the parts ... which ones? why? got a better solution?
2. Links for the 900USD gaming box work

1. New topic = new thread. Also, we have a videocard section for VC only questions
2 VIDEO CARD 101 ... again with the stickies :P

Because I got I kinda wanna raise my post count by giving people useful info, but i dont wanna spam ( I hate spammers!) so thats y I asked that spam question.

Oh no i didnt mean like that, while i understand why people might not like OEM parts, I dont understand why its a serious dislike (serious enough to fork over money for nonOEM). IMO, if you have to deal with OEM to get the parts I specd out in the 900USD gaming box, thats personally a sacrifice I'll make.

Now if you start getting retail-only parts, the prices are gonna add up >900USD which means something is going to have to skimp. The post is there as a general baseline i.e., people should be settling for less but always strive for more if possible

As for tomorow's proposed posting frenzy, so long as it's no post bumping nor stupid posts then its ok

sry if i sound dumb but whats post bumping?

Also I know this is off topic but what part of Canada do u live and are u originally Canadian. My grandmother is pure quebec, canadian are last name is "Geroux" Im french.

Also I had another question about becoming a moderator, I read the sticky for that and it says contact us, but I don't know who to contact is it you, obvoiusly I don't qualify right now but I was wondering beacuse that could be something I could shoot for, as soon as I hit 300+ posts. lol
