Computer Hopelessly Problematic

I recently tried to make my laptop, running Windows XP, look like it was running Mac (because I was jealous of all the shiny buttons). I think I might have deleted something I shouldn't have, or perhaps messed around with some registry in a way I can't correct, but now my inbuilt wireless is useless and when I click start (or "apple") and go to programs, it lists nothing. I can't open the control panel but I can get to My Computer.

Thankfully I can still play Warcraft III. :P

Anything I can do? Will I have to reformat the comp? (Not desirable since I'd have to find the XP CD, which is probably buried under a mountain of paperwork in some obscure drawer) I really don't want to go to a professional to get it fixed...

I will on request provide further details, screenshots, whatever. I'll follow your every direction, if it helps fix my PC! :D I need my wireless internet back! :P

Thanks in Advance,

Tried doing a repair instal of Xp?

Probably the only thing that will fix it

I require the Windows XP CD for that, however, and I really can't find it. Really. I've tried every where, but the only thing I found in all my obscure drawers with mountains of paperwork in them is a dusty StarTrek video.

Huh. I think I'll watch it.

Anyway, any alternatives that do not require the XP CD?
