Computer Host Names and MAC Addresses

Hello,

I send a lot of e-mails back and forth with friends and businesses; are they able to somehow extract and find out your computer's exact host name and/or mac address? Usually all I hear is they are able to identify your IP/ISP Address at most. I use google webmail mostly.

All they can do is pull the mail server IP address and trace it back to the local ISP node.

They wouldn't be able to see (for example: "bob's-dell-computer") ?
IP/ISP can tell, mostly, the location from geo-targeting, correct?

No they can't tell the name of your computer. And yes it's mostly geo-targeting. If you search my public IP address, you get the internet node 10 miles away from my house.

Thank you, this is what I thought. I also came across the Network Utility section on my Mac. It has areas for the "Finger Utility", Tracing, Lookup and all weird things that track back to your server and can give your phone number, physical address, ip address, last login, bio, school you go to and a bunch of other unsafe personal information. How am I able to disable this from my information being searched?
