Ok, I have an existing computer obviously working on a SB4100 cable modem. No problems there...admittedly the "cable guy" showed up and did all the work, I have no idea how the surfboard actually works.
I drag my old computer out of storage and just plug the ethernet cable right into the back of it. I do some searching to see how to make the surfboard work on the old computer...
I am getting an IP address, I have the setting on for "automatic" to find the IP, the icon says it's connected, etc. and I get a connection speed...this is as far as I can figure out what to check by looking online.
But when I try to open the internet I get the error page?
I also found my old router in storage that a friend had set up when we lived together...would that help anything or will it continue my brain meltdown? He had it set up so that we used a single surfboard and then had two computers on the router, but he did all the work.
If anyone can help out I would appreciate it.
