Here is my hijack this log for a scan I just did. Anything that doesn't belong? Pandascan says there is a virus in system volume folder but I can't get to it to destroy it. Suggest anything?

System volume information folder is the system restore program. AVG will get rid of the items in there. You can always disable system restore and then reenable it to delete all system restore points which will get rid of the virus.
 
I notice that you do not seem to be running antivirus software. This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world. AVG makes an excellent free antivirus client, as do AntiVir or avast!. I strongly suggest you download and install one of these immediately and allow it to do a full scan.

johnb35 is correct about Panda reporting an infected restore point.

Please also turn off System Restore, and turn it back on again. This will clean out your infected Restore Points. To do so:

To turn off System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Select the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Then to turn it back on again:
1. Wait for Windows to finish clearing Restore Points.
2. Clear the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.

Scanned. Nothing came up and nothing removed.

Also, cleared restore points. I don't use my computer much for anything but homework and a couple MMO's but that is it, so I don't really need any anti-virus. When I upgrade my computer I will do so, though.
 
If the computer you are using is connected to the internet either by dial up or broadband connection, you DO need virus software. It doesn't matter if your only online 2 minutes a day. You would be surprised just by browsing the web how much bad stuff you can pick up and if you didn't have an active virus program installed, it wouldn't take much for your computer to be unuseable. Install the free version of AVG here.
