computer is broken i think ...

Hi guys, i recently turned my computer off via start > shutdown
once it was shutdown i took out all the plugs and then transfered all my computer to my mothers which is a short drive away from my fathers but i had hold off my tower and it didnt bang against anything

when it comes to turning the computer back on it just as dead as a dodo, the psu is tunred on by the switch and i have tried numerous leads and none off them are making the compter turn on. i can also tell the leads are workng because i can hear a little ekectric spark when i plug it in to the psu

could this possibly be the psu broken ? or could it just be something im not doing correctly :S

please get back to me as i cant live without it lol

are your fans and hard drive spinning up? If not, you can say with complete certainty that it is your PSU that is gone

That is so long as you didn't change anything inside, have the computer plugged in with the switch on the wall and on the PSU set to on, and are pressing the power button on the computer with all cables attatched correctly inside. I would check none have wriggled free on the drive over, unlikely, I know, but possible
 
no fans are spinning or hard drives :( so i take it this is my psu broke ?

ive checked all wires etc so i dont know what has broke the psu :\

Is there another system you can try the unit in either at your motherrs or when you get back home? If it doesn't work in that system it is obvious it is your PSU. However as nothing is wanting to work in your computer, it is almost a certain thing that it is your power supply causeing your problems.

What could have caused it, who knows. Static would be my first guess, as you were holding it so it shouldn't have been knocked and damaged that way, but as it has a metal case around, it is hard to not discharge yourself on that, rather than the internals of the unit
 
i had it between my legs whike my brother was driving.

and i didnt feel an electric shock with ot or anything :(

So your saying you took all the hardware out of one case and installed in another one?

This is a redundant question, but is the standoffs in the correct places for the motherboard, not shorting out.
 
toggle switch

What about the toggle switch on the power supply, is it set to "o" or "-"? It should be set on "-".

I took what he said to mean he took all the cable out, so power cable, mouse/keyboard cable, ethernet cable etc, and took the tower to his mum's house, connected it all back up, and it wouldn't work
