ive built my pc 2 years ago. its been running perfectly since i had a power surge last month ago. the power supply blew however ive replaced it with a 700watt power supply good quality one. after 2 weeks of new power supply unit my pc started to act very slow. my mouse curser would stay on the screen even if i moved the mouse and then after budging the mouse vigerously the curser would then sync in but its occuring very often now.

ive cleaned the fans and the cpu temp of cpu is between 60-80 degrees and at the momemnt its on 71 degrees. ive also just replaced new thermo paste between the cpu and the chip.

also i have a motu ultralite external sound card and now everytime i play music all i get is buzzing interuption noise from the speakers i would then have to turn the sound card off then turn it back on play music again for 1min and then the buzzing digital noise would interfer again...

i also get these blue screen error messages all different kind of ones...

i dont understand why this is happening maybe could be due to the power surge but is there anyway of solving this by trial and error method ????

Wow, man that sucks, to me it looks like your computers a little screwed up by that surge...

Did you have your computer pluged in to a surge protector??

ye it was connected to a power surge protector but yet the psu died. the motherboards on everything is fine but its jus running slow like the mouse and the sound.

you rekon it could be the memory ram ??

thanks.

The surge and immediate shutdown may have corrupted a few system files. I don't know what Operating system you are running but click on "Start", "Run" and type in sfc /scannow.
Make sure all programs are closed and have your system disc ready if a corrupted file needs replacing.

Might be a good idea also to run chkdsk c: /f to fix any errors on your hard disk .

^yup, check what TFT said, if windows has some corrupt system files, it doesnt run as good as it should be, i had to put ubuntu on my emachine because of currpt windows files...:(

thanks guys will try them asap..

however.....the blue screen error messages i get is something on the lines of...driver_irql_not_less_or_equal .

thanks.

its windows xp pro sp3.

ive done the sfc /scannow asked me to put xp cd which i done and after it was doing its task the box dissappeared which i think thats suppose to happen. everything seems to appear the same.

will try chkdsk.

thanks.

i could install fresh xp but that would be my last resort.

i managed to roll the driver back for my motu soundcard and its slightly done wounders for the sounds before the crackles would come straight away now its after 10mins of listening to music.

when i open say fruity loops software to make music the cpu bar on the top is hitting at red levels which means its using the cpu alot...why is this ??

thanks.

Usually with a power surge, other than the power supply, the external devices also get effected. try getting your motu checked on another device. this might help
