Hi, I'm experiencing a lag that has been occuring for the last 2 weeks. It all started after I have bought a new internal hard drive and tried installing it. After experiencing the lag, I decided to take the harddrive out and tried system restoring. The lag still wouldn't go away. The lag occurs when I'm watching a video clip or playing a game. Sometimes, my whole computer lags too. The lag occurs frequently and shortly. The lag lasts about 3 second and it's really annoying. I've checked for spywares, viruses, and even did a disk cleanup along with defragmentation. Nothing seems to be "unplugged" inside my computer. Also, when I look at my CPU usage percentage, it spikes up from 1% to 80% very often. I'm no pro in computers so I really can't find the problem. I'll appreciate greatly if you guys can help me out.

How old is your old hard drive, because your old one could be dying... One way to tell is a hard drive is starting to go is if the computer starts to lag with music or videos that are stored on it. Or if it takes more time to install or uninstall programs than it used to...

My old drive isn't that old. I've had my computer for about 2 years now and the problem occured right after I tried installing my new drive. I've checked the box of the drive I've bought and it's a WD1200?? I hope that name is correct. It's a western digital internal drive that has 120 gb. But again, I've took the new drive out and had put the computer back to the way it was. Hope these information helps a bit.

O yeh, I've noticed recently, I think videos and games are the things that lags the most. My music never lagged.

Yes, its 2 years old, i'm betting you only got 256mb? that might be the problem then.
If not, might be time to upgrade to a whole new one :)

BTW, when my video lags, the sound doesnt lag at all. Just the video scene lags. Hope this info can help a little more.
