Computer literacy

In today's business world, proficiency in computer skills is as critical as reading, writing and arithmetic. In both academia and the workplace, basic skills in computing and Internet use are considered prerequisites to acceptance and employment.

What constitutes computer literacy(including computer literacy at home, workplace, school and society)? What skills are needed to survive in a computer-centered society?

It really dependson what type of computer society you are referring to, if you are at school studying ICt then your not gonna need to know fluent binary. If your a software developer, theres not really much point in spending years studying the architecture of CPU's. What im trying to say is that you dont always need to be great at evrything to 'survive', it dpends on what your doing.
