So it automatically restarts right before it gets to the Windows splash screen? And it won't read anything you put in the optical drive?

Sorry, you typed that in way too fast for me to fully understand. haha.

yeah i am. i can get into bio' and thats really it. i tried the system recov but what ever didn't work. but bio's np

You could try pressing F8 to get into boot options. Then choose Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work you can boot into safe mode and do a system restore.

I'm out of ideas after that.

bummer cuase i've already gotten that far and it just keeps looping after each mode i try :( thanks anyway man. hope i can figure it out.

If you give up, you can just reformat your HDD by making a bootable CD of MaxBlast or something. I know you probably won't want to do that because you probably don't have things backed up but if push comes to shove.....

Hey man nah i'll just do that. um well its not reading my windows xp disk so...you know some where ican get something to get reformat it.?

You may have to go to BIOS and set the boot priority of your optical drie higher than that of the HDD, otherwise it'll never boot off the CD as soon as there's an OS installed on your computer.

hey hacka. yah i just tried that. and then it boots from cd right...then..it says hit any key and keyboard wont connect. which shouldn't be an issuse. becuase it will still load right? well its just going back to asking me for safe mode and etc..so..any other suggestions. thing the HD is done.

I don't know why (possibly for those dumb ones who forget their installation CDs in the drive?) but you need to press a key, if you don't it'll just boot off the HD. Is your keyboard actually screwed or is it possibly USB/bluetooth? In either case, there is the possibility that the BIOS can't detect it, hence it will work only after the OS loads up... you should be fine with a USB keyboard, though. If possible, try a PS/2 one.

I'm not sure about this, but if this happens to you, maybe this is the solution: In my bios i set this booting order: 1. Floppy, 2. DVD drive 3. HDD . It doesn't work at all, i put a bootable disk but it will just boot win xp. So, to boot from cd/floppy i have to press an F key (i think one of F9 to F12 because i press them all very fast to display that menu :D) to open a menu where you can select where to boot from, and it works. It may differ on each BIOS version/type, so I don't know what your key may be.
