Computer lock-up

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop running Windows Xp Home using AT&T DSL. Lately when I click on a link from a forum or I go to a site that has pop-ups (weather.com is one), the internet will lock-up. I have to Alt+Ctrl+Del to end task and reboot internet. Any thoughts/solutions?

Could be spyware that has imbedded itself into your computer. Do a virus and spyware scan and see what it picks up.
