SORRY FOR POSTING TWICE CAN SOME 1 DELETE THIS 1!
So my FAMILY comp is really screwed up so before you read this i cannot reformat it. So my problems are pretty much unlistable. But the major ones are a pop up comes up like every second.. it says surf sidekick.. and when i try to use mozilla the popup just takes over the browser so like i lost everything.. and when i try to play BFME 2 and CSS it says i dont have directx 9 or higher which i downloaded. and my comp just restarts when ever it feels like it. also my norton subscription ran out around 2 months ago

You have alot of crap on this system and it's going to take awhile to clean it.First, HJT needs to be in it's own folder so create 'C/HijackThis' and put it there.Next, go to 'add/remove programs' and uninstall the following if present.

SurfSideKick 3 or any version
NEWDOT
Need2Find Bar
My Web Search
Look for any other 'Suspicious' entries there and remove them also.

Now download and run this rootkit utility from F-secure https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/

Download Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ then set it up this way http://rstones12.geekstogo.com/ewidosetup.htm You will need this later in safe mode
Make sure to update this program.
Download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/19/2/ You will need it later in safe mode.

Download, install and update this free trial from Webroot Spysweeper http://www.webroot.com/shoppingcart/tryme.php?bjpc=64011&vcode=DT14

Download, install and update A-squared here http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.
Make sure to disable Norton and any other spyware program you have.

From safemode, run HijackThis and put a check by the following entries, close all open windows and browsers and click 'Fix Checked'

Now run A-squared and let it delete what it finds.

Run Ewido and let it delete all that it finds

Run Spysweeper and let it delete what it finds.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot into normal windows and and run this free online scan from 'Panda' http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm Save the log and post it here along with a new HJT log after the Panda scan.

I am his house now (he lives next door 2 me) and we tried running that and it said F-Secure BlackLight could not aquire necessary privileges (SeDebugPrivilage)

-Your computer settings may prevent acquiring these privileges.
- A malicious program might have disabled these privaleges.




now judging by the state of his PC i am guessing it is a malicious program... should i skip this step and continue to do what he say? or do any of you have a solution...
please respnd fast...

Boot into safe mode with networking and try to download and install it.
 
You will probably have to sign in as administrator then and yes, if it still doesn't work, try it in safemode.If still no success, run it before or after the 'Panda' scan.
 
The reason for running it is this.If a system has been infected with a rootkit and this system is used for important things like online banking, etc, the rule of thumb is immediate 'Reformat'.This is extreme and rarely recommended but when dealing with 'Rootkits', you will never be sure if the entire infection has been removed.We will try and run it after some cleaning.
