Computer Monitor Start-up Problem

I have a refurbished Gateway and a Dell SE177FP 17in LCD Monitor.

Whenever I restart my computer, the monitor doesn't show. It works fine otherwise, but I have to unplug it and plug it back in every time to make it work.

The LED light on the monitor turns on, but the monitor goes into Power Save mode and I can't get it out of it. The disc it came with has drivers on it, but I have no idea how to install them. All that auto-starts is a manual. I've also looked all over the place for dell drivers on the internet and I can't find any.

I don't think this is a specific Dell or Gateway problem, because this happened with my old eMachines computer and monitor too.

The drivers on the CD with your monitor should work... Mine was the same... Let it auto run and it'll open instructions, it'll tell you to go to my computer, right click the CD, click explore and then double click on the drivers.

Get back to us if you need more help :)

The files in the XP driver folder are se177fp (Security Catalog), SE177FP (ICC Profile), and SE177FP (Setup Information). I double clicked on all of them, but i don't know how to open any of them.

XP driver is the name of the folder that those files are in, and I read through the manual and it doesn't mention anything about drivers. There's also a VISTA driver folder too. My OS is XP. I forgot to mention that the manual opens in Firefox (my main web browser).

Does it make any beeping noise at bootup?

I know on some computers when the RAM isn't properly seated it wont allow enable the monitor to display and some computers beep.

Try right clicking your dektop and going to properties...

Then go to the settings tab and then click advanced,
Then click the monitor tab and then properties, once that has opened click the drivers tab...

Then try clicking update driver.
