My gfrandmothers computer doesnt detect the keyboard and mouse. There is nothing happening with them. Anyone have any ideas

This has happaned to me a couple of times. Depending on how many USB ports there is at the back of the computer, mix them around and see if they work in some ports and not in others. I've found sometimes when I have my mouse and keyboard not in parallel ports, they don't work.

Possibly the PS/2 slots died, rendering the motherboard worthless... unless you use USB and have no reason to tap into the CMOS...

Check your Bios, make sure that your ps/2 ports are enabled, you could try resetting the bios back to its defaults, If you are sure that the keyboard/mouse work then it could be a software problem you may have to roll back/reinstall drivers or windows.

It must just be dead. There is now power going to any devices. But you still see it load and run so it isnt completely shot.
