ok ill list the problems,

1) when i install games they are not added to the start bar (not a huge problem but i think it link to everyuthing else)

2) games randomly lock up - when im playing games they will just lock up, no crashing to desktop, no blue screen, just locks up - ram is fine, CPU is cool, only using 1/2 my harddrive, games running on lowest graphic level

3)unable to install microsoft framework 3.5 spk1 and .net framework 3.5 family (not sure if it relavant but i thought i should just add it incase

Vista home primeuim (full update)
AMD Phenom 9950 (not overclocked)
4gb ram
nvidia Geforce 8500 GT (latest drivers)

so any ideas

Are you selecting to not put shortcuts in your start menu when you install the game?

What game(s) are you installing?

Is there only one user account on the computer you're using, or do you
have a login screen where you have to select your username and login?

the start menu is just a folder. Windows displays this folder in the convenient way called the start menu so that you have easy organized access to programs instead of having a crap load of shortcuts on your desktop or having to navigate to the location of the programs folder itself

eve
red alert 3
crysis
fallout 3 (although this isn't even loading)

odd just ran though an installation and it didn't even give me an option to?

also note that games installed though steam install and work fine, not problem and appear under the steam sub folder in the start bar
