Computer not turning on AT ALL?

Hi guys,

I have a quite "ancient" Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600 desktop which I've been using constantly until I got my laptop. I was thinking of building a gaming computer but it seems that my desktop won't bother to even turn on. Yes, the switch on the back is on, and is plugged into a socket. Is my power supply broken? What is it? Do I have to bring it to a shop to get it fixed?

There is a cable that connects the power switch in the case
to your motherboard. Perhaps it fell out and just needs to be
put back in.

disconnect everything, all optical drives, hard drive, floppy, pull all pci cards, all but 1 stick of ram and the mouse. try starting with the monitor, keyboard, cpu & 1 stick of ram.

Have you got your problem fixed or still needing help?

Does the computer have any life at all ? or does it not do anything when you hit the button?

It might be worth doing as larryf215 said, unplug everything bar your keyboard, monitor and 1 stick of RAM and see what happens.

Also if you have multiple sticks of RAM you could try booting with each of them separately.

is the light on your mobo on? if not there could be a problem with your power suply or motherboard.

It could simply be that your power suply has blown, if that has gone it won't put any power to your system. If it is old, as you say, chances are age has got the better of it and the PSU has finally packed in

That might be it...
Also we had a power surge a few months ago, I'm quite sure I already unplugged my PC but I hadn't touched it then since... a year ago or so (maybe last summer).

Thanks!!!

Um yea power surges aren't very kind to computers lol. Was it plugged into a power surge protector by chance? If not, then you probably have a dead PSU on your hands.
