Computer or PS3?

I'm in a bit of a pickle, I was planning on buying a pretty desent computer for gaming but being fifteen making about $40 a week, I'm starting to think that it is an unrealistic goal to reach about $1700 for my computer. By the way I make $40 dollars a week becasue the place I work at only allows my to work on saturdays for 5 hours. I am beginning to question whether I should continue to save for like 10 months, or if I should just put my money into PS2 games and set aside $500 for next yeaers christmas for PS3? what do u guys think.

the way i see it is if there's a particular game that you want that wont be out on one system then i would go with that system. if money is a major issue then i would go with the ps3 simply because its cheaper and the hardware is much cheaper than that of a decent system.

you could find 100 other thingd to get before the xbox 360. If you can get a job that offers more hours or get the PS3. Making 40$ a week is unrealistic for a PC that high end.

But also think of it this way 1700$ of the same PC parts will be alot cheaper then 10 months ;)

I'd say get the XBOX 360
Yea mate, because that was one of the options wasnt it

Well ay $40 a week, it would take you along time to save up the $1700 you want. So the best bet would be the PS3 choice.

it'ss take you 43 weeks. plus taxes taken out of your paycheck and stuff, plus the tax to buy it, it'll prabally take another 3-4 weeks, and now your up to past 11 months.

hard choice.
i'd rather choose a new pc.
you'll spend a lot if you not use mod chip.
99% ps & ps2 in my country already have modchip before you buy it.
i don't reccommend that.

thanks for reminding me of the incredibly long time I have to wait before I can afford the PC  But to take into consideration is christmas and birthday, and about $500 I can take out of my bank account. So it shouldnt be that bad. Also after my birthday in February, I can work more days in a week!:D

whats your current computers spec? maybe you could buy a ps3 and upgrade your computer, the best of both :D

there's also a very long winded thread about this too. most of the "problems" stems from user stupidity.
i still say get your PS3 first and then work on getting a PC at a later date

I was actually thinking of just upgrading my current computer. It was one that I found in the garage, when my dad was planning on throwing it out becuase it is sooooo old. But still functional, but I was thinking that if I do decide to upgrade it, I would probably want to upgrade everything about it,(even the case is bad). It is an HP Brio with like 100MB of Ram and everything else is shitty... overall it would be more trouble than it's worth.

I'd just lower your budget, $1700 is alot to spend on a computer even if you made alot more money. You can get a very decent computer for ~$800-1000.

Don't feel bad, I just started working as a janitor and so far only work 2 days a week, which is only ~$70 a week. That rounds to ~$220 a month which BARELY covers half my car insurance (my parents are paying for the other half) and I still have to afford gas and other finances. I'm hoping by January I will get more hours available. When I turn 18 I can get cheaper insurance and not have to pay OVER $400 A MONTH (i hate this plan.)

How many hours can you work in a week in the US if you are under 18 years old? Cause here in Finland I think the limit is 36 hours a week, 6 or 8 hours a day.

I don't think there is a limit, it jsut depends on how much you want to work. My boss is planning to get me at least 5 days a week, 4-6 hours a day if she can and im 17. That's all my schedule allows for while im in school, but in the summer i might be able to do full time 40hrs a week or more.
