computer parts

Yes they all go together, but will you actually be using the SLI?

And the case already has a PSU, I assume that you know that and just wanted a better one?

What will you be using this computer for? 3D rendering or something of that sort. Thats a nice GPU. I would consider upgrading the case and to 2GB RAM.

I dont want to push for to much more, but do you think that a better case will be necesary? a few more bucks shouldnt be to bad.

About the memory, I have orderd two of those sticks. Since my computor holds 4 sticks I think its good for now. They only package they had with 2 gigs of ram was a kingston package for $300 and I dont want to spend that much.

about the PSU? you mean power suply i guess, and I would like a 500W i would need a 450 but I want to be safe.

and yes I will be using this for 3d renderin and 3d animation things. Thats why I need the expensive ATI card. One thing I couldnt figure out is that I know some mobo's come with sound stuff, does the one I have selected come with a sound card. As long as I have one im good, nothing expensive, but If it doesent have one I need to add one.

You don't need a 450W. I know what the graphics cards say....but you don't need it. However, I would stick with the 500W because it is just better.

But will you have SLI? (or crossfire, or whatever ATI calls it) Because there is no need for an SLI board if you won't use it.

Yes the motherboard has onboard sound (I have never seen a new one that doesn't) but it isn't overly great.

I would hope so.:)

Any reason why you're going with that site? On Newegg for the same price, 20 more GB, an Antec P180 case, 2GB of Geil RAM, and the same other stuff:

The P180 is probably over teh top, but I've always wanted to build a system with one:).

I still dont know a lot about all this stuff, in fact I started learning about putting computors together and stuff like 4 days ago maby a bit more. Can you tell me what you mean by the SLI stuff, and whyt it does all that.

sli means having 2 of the same gpus (video cards) run at the same time to increase performance on one monitor - this performance increase is usually by a percentage of 30%

I dont think I realy need that, but I guess it is always good to be safe, and the question is, if i get the sli, am I required to have the 2 cards or will one work. Also, will this decrease the preformance of the one card if I only use one, and would It work better if it was not sli.

about the other sites, thanks for the advice. It is $20 cheaper, but the quesiton is wheather or not they are better components. I noticed the power suply is 480 which works, but not quite as good, but on the other hand the hard drive is 320. Do i realy need a 320 gig hard drive, and are the other parts better. Like dvd drive is different, hard drive might not be as good quality. I cant tell much of a difference, but if anyone can tell please let me know.

well if were to get an ati card then sli wont work -sli is nvidia 2 card deal - crossfire is ati's 2 card deal, and i really dont think you need it cause 1 good card should be efficient

1 video card will work fine

ok, it says its a crossfire, and I do have an ATI. Its a $700 something dollar card, so I think thats preety good, or at lest I hope so. This sounds good. Either one is good for me now. All thats left is comming up with the $1,700. As of now, I have no money twards it :), no job. This could be a while. Thanks for the advice. By the time I ahave the money, Il just need new stuff anyways.

Wattage has little to do with how a power supply performs. Sure, mine is 480w but it has dual +12v rails @ 36A, and is from a reputable company. Those are the things you should be looking at. It's very easy to downgrade the case and upgrade to an excellent CD/DVD drive, and still be well under what the other site would charge.

Ok, thanks. Il probably stick with the newegg stuff as is. Before I do anything though Im gonna have to talk to my IT guy, because I dont feel comfortible putting it together myself. Can anyone direct me to a sight that teaches you how to put the peices together. I would like to learn how.

why a $750 GPU?

Get an above average video card. And use the difference in money on eveyrthing else. Get a machine that is going to last, and upgrade the card later on.
