computer problem .. again !

hi guys, recently i have had the problem of my computer not turning on at all !! I tested the psu (700w) and it seemed to work in another computer, but my computer didnt seem to turn on.

so i sent my computer into a shop and they said it was the psu and gave me a new psu (700w) and it seemed to turn on fine with no problems at all ! but after about an hour with the new psu i turned the computer off via start > shutdown.

about an hour of it being turned off i came back to it and tryed to turn it on and it took a couple of presses of the on/off button to actually turn the computer on, but nothing would show on screen, and then about 3 mins later the computer would turn off by itself ! i tried to turn it back on but it wouldnt. i then unplugged and messed around with the lead and plugged it bac into the computer and then it would turn on and then 3 mins later turn off and still no video !

what the heck is wrong with my computer now :( want to get it up and running asap as its my baby !

Most likely a loose connection on the motherboard somewhere especially if the new power supply is doing the same thing. Or you may have stress cracks on the motherboard breaking the electrical circuit that turns it on. Make sure all connections are tight.
 
Don't touch anything - take it back to the jokers that told you it was the psu and make them fix it, since you've already paid for it
 
well my old psu didnt even turn my pc on !!

but this new one turns it on, but does not show anything on the screen, then 5 mins later it turns it self off ! the wierd thing was though, before i turned it off via start, it was working fine, but once i tunrred it off it has stopped working now :(

I so agree. just opening the case can void the warranty with shops. I put a small line of nail polish on the opening of the case. If its been opened I will know it and act accordingly.
 
wierdest thing has just happened !

just turned the computer on and it all started up fine, my mouse has lights on it and so does my keybpoard and they lit up, the screen came on and came to the password screen of the boot up

then the screen turned off with the mouse and keyboard and turned on again, then turned off and stayed off. what is happening !
 
You definately have an issue somewhere. If you trust the people you took it to before, take it back and say its still doing the same thing.

Was this a custom built machine or store bought? I would say the motherboard is shorting out on the case somwhere to be honest.
 
Did you use the brass standoffs between the case and motherboard?

i am so gutted !just tried it again and it turned the mouse and on off, the keyboard on and off, the screen on and off and then tunred itself off !
 
ok will do, well whats that thing i can do ? take one stick of ram out and all opttical drives and place the mobo on a card board box ?
