Mean while, when you boot xp next time go to START - RUN and type in " msconfig" - OK - STARTUP - DISABLE ALL. After it will ask you to restart. do that and tell us what happens?
PC eye said:The main problem here is not knowing precisely if it is a Windows or hardware issue causing an enormous lag on bootup time. A failing bios chipset where the NV Ram is losing info would also see this as well as others like memory or even the cpu. That's on internal hardwares. But let's wait for a question on any external devices being the cause before assuming anything internal.
