Computer Problem, Please Read

Posting this for a friend. She has a desktop computer, the other day, you took out the 512 RAM and put in a 256 RAM from a laptop and the computer shut down. She also put a laptop wirelss card into one of the slots where your install like sound card, video card etc (the back of the computer) and the comuter wouldn't start unless you unplug the cord in the back for 2 seconds and pluged it back in. She took out the laptop RAM AND wireless card from the desktop. When the computer started, you just only came to one BIOs screen it it had a message and beside it, it said loading defalts, something like that. After a few tries, the computer started and finally got into Windows. The computer runs really fast, and not a good way either. When you click the clock. The second had goes around like 5x faster and reaches a minute in like 20 seconds.

When you put a new card in the back of a desktop computer, the cards go into slots. if your take you side cover off of a desktop, your will see them. There are like 5-7 of them. for like sound, video, wireless internet.

But computers have PCI, laptops use PCMCIA. Which are not interchangable. Plus most laptops use smaller (physically, I dont remember the pin count) ram, while desktops use larger. Laptops and desktops arnt really made to interchange parts.
