computer problem

i have a computer that boots then after a period of time shuts down. it was working fine 10 min before then i restarted it and it was acting like that (shutting down after 2 min). and my other computer is doing the same thing any help? btw both are stock hp computers with upgrades.
 
Are they both desktops? Have any specs to share with us? I'm wanting to say it's probably heat, but more info would be nice. Also, how does it shut down? Does it just power off with no warning? Does it reboot? Does it run through it's shutdown procedure? Oh... I guess it could be the PSU as well. HPs are notorious for having worthless power supplies (Bestec :P )
 
Do the computers just power down entirely? Without going through the propper shutdown procedure? You mentioned you upgraded them (with what exactly?) so I'm pointing my finger at the powersupply for now.

what are the stock specs of the computer, and the specs of them now? for what you need to list just look at my sig, should become clear.

If you were to spend any more money on these systems, how much would you have for 2 new powersupplies? I'm convinced they're the problem until proven otherwise. :)

But i don't know if your machines are micro atx or small form factor or whatever. knowing HP you will need to buy one of their power supplies or a compatible one with a higher rating. or change the case, which may not be possible because of more proprietary designs. :o

Do you have a model number for the HP computers? that will help out a good deal.
 
What do these have in common. Does it just so happen they both have similar problems, or is there some program that's been loaded on both that's causing the issues. Check what's loaded on them, perhaps also clean them out, run in safe mode, check event viewer, etc etc...
 
Both are mid size desktops with ATX powersupplies. go ahead and order 2 of those corsair units to replace whatever junk HP supplied the units with.
 
I think the problem to your computer is driver incompatibility. Maybe you installed a driver that is not compatible to your device. Try to update your drivers by using driver scanner or maybe your computer has a virus or maybe the fan of your computer is not working? Because virus and overheating can also make computers to automatic shutdown but i think the most is the driver incompatibility..

well before i buy another power box i wan to know that is the problem...i might butcher the computer i'm currently using to see if this power box makes them stay on.
