Computer Problem

I have a Dell Dimension E521. It start to cut on and of over and over. So i unplugged it and then re plugged it back in. Now when it boots up it said <BHO.DLL was not found Reinstalling may fix the problem> then when it runs for 3 to 4 hours it cut off and on over and over? OS or what

Press F12 when the Dell logo appears and go to "Diagnostics" and test the hard drive. I think your drive may be on it's way out.

If not, then it sounds like an XP reinstall/repair may fix your issue.

its not the hard drive and i dont have the re-install disk that came with the computer. is there some way i can get one or is it better off to go into the shop?

Get a new hard drive or ssd along with a new os disk. Back up your files first either online or on a seperate drive while you're still able, and then do a fresh install of windows on a new drive.

you can try to contact Dell for one. Generally most companies (HP and Lenovo for sure) charge around $20 to ship you a replacement copy.

Otherwise, you can try to upgrade to 7 for $100 and you will be sure that you have the disk in the future. This is a better option as XP is soon to be out of support.
