Computer Problems, Please Help

I have a dell dimension e510 with some after market parts. When I turn it on it starts up to the main screen, then after opening a few things or just having it on too long, it freezes. Now, when I turn it on it has long beeps, 3 or 4 im not sure, and it wont display anything on my screen.

Any ideas?

I thought it was the RAM at first and now im thinking it is the GPU...

You have 4 diagnostic lights on the back of the machine. Go here to determine what could be wrong with the machine.

You will have green and amber lights. Just look at the chart to determine what could be wrong. If you still need help post back.

I just pulled out my Gskill ram that I put in about 6 months ago. Guess what, it works now. Im pretty disappointed that the memory died that fast, for what great reviews it got. Computer is a little slower now, but it runs, so that's all that matters.

Have you tried putting the ram back in to see if maybe it just needed to be reseated?

It works now with the ram in it again. Ive done that before but it still froze up. I dont have the internet hooked up so I cant see if it will freeze up while doing more work.

You can download Memtest to test the memory for errors. http://www.memtest.org/#downiso Download the iso and burn it to cd and then boot to it.
