Computer Problems

Hi I just wonder if anyone could help me with my computer, I got a Intel Pentium 4CPU, 3.00Hz 2.99 Ghz, 1,50gb ram computer with a Median Radeon 9800 XL video card. My computer is very slow, internet goes of all the time and when i play i get very low fps and high MS.

The FPS is about 30 - 40 average and 100 MS on World of Warcraft with normal settings, I suspect all the viruses i got to be causing this problem. So if i buy a new hard driver and replace it with my old one, would that fix the problem or should i just buy a new computer?

Why does everyone think they are loaded with viruses? Most removers simply report data miners or more commonly known as tracking cookies not actual malwares that would toss Windows entirely.

The slow frame rates are most likely due to the older now outdated AGP card while newer games are more at the PCI-Express type. There you see low end. mid range, and high end preferred mostly for gaming systems.

A new drive will see more drive space with prices falling sharply on them while seeing nothing more then a fresh start with Windows with a new clean system registry without the usual buildup of now useless entries where you would automatically notice things running faster and smoother.

For gaming performance however you then have to start looking at upgrading the works with a new build entirely hand picking out all of the better hardwares now available. In the meantime there are newer AGP cards still being seen like Radeon HD 2600 Pro. Getting out of AGP entirely would be the real upgrade for gaming however.

Ok thanks for the reply, but can you recomend any good gaming computer that is cheap? I dont realy know much about computers, so i dont wanna buy a new computer that is actually worser then the one i got now thank you!

Prebuild gaming systems don't run cheap! Sorry about that but gaming builds generally see the higher priced hardwares like the fastest model cpu as well as the high ticket video cards and more memory. They then grab the higher prices while the typical HP, Dell, Gateway, others sold in retail stores run for a lot less seeing an average of $400 for a mini budget upto $700-$800 at this time.

Custom building a good case will see a $1,000-$1200 for the "good stuff" while places like Alienware charge into the thousands literally for having a system built according to what is specified by you.

For the OS Dell has been offering your choice of XP if not Vista or Linux even at your request while HPs or Sony VAIOs tend to be the most preferred for a prebuild. They do seem to come with better options while not being dedicated gaming systems.

For the most part here I spend more time either custom building or looking at someone else's problems with either custom or prebuild. But for prebuilds anything seeing a Core 2 or newer AM2 dual core by AMD with a good 2gb of memory and a mid to high end video card not onboard will be a move up for you anyways.

Custom building isn't that hard to get into once you learn more and take things one step at a time. For the effort you not only save on the cash side but get to see just what "you want" go into it! Basically you preplan out a system before actually buying anything for the type of build you have in mind.

The problem there however with prepackaged deals is how good is.. the case as well as supply, micro atx board, keyboard + mouse combo, etc.? That's simply a prepackaged throw together rather then one where you specify just what you want in it.
