Computer + Projector = Good?

Hello,

I would like to connect my computer tower up to a home cinema projector and play Skyrim. Simple, right? Well...

My projector is an Epson 8350 flashing down onto a 150 inch projection screen.

Because of the screen's massive size (150"), I fear my computer's video card will perform suicide from exhaustion. However, I am not computer genius, so I am wondering if my computer's video card and the size of the screen will be an issue.

My computer is a Gateway FX6800-0e1 (outdated model from 2008). Specs are as follows:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core i7-920 @ 2.66 GHz
RAM: 9 GB DDR3
Graphics card: GTX 560 Ti

I may have left out some important details so please feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Thank you.

EDIT: Updated Graphics Card.

screen resolution is 1920x1080p. size doesnt matter...resolution does, and i think that card might not max skyrim but it will run it pretty well...gpu is the only thing id say holiding you back from maxxing if it doesnt, im no pro with settings there however...

As furyrosewood said, you wont see an increase in card use for the bigger size, only the resolution. @1080 i presume you will get decent settings although the 4850 is a few generations behind so it might not max the game. That said it was and stil is to an extent a decent card. You can only try and see if it maxes it. :P

Saying that i played the ps3 version on a friends console and my god the frame rate was poor, as was texture pop in and freezing, so anything is a bonus over consoles :P

Your video card won't kill itself - if it can't handle it, at worst you get bad framerates (= choppy video). That is, unless you've somehow managed to block air flow, but in that case you're going to have problems regardless of whether or not you've got a projector. Your setup is reasonably good even by modern standards, though, I wouldn't worry too much.

Do you have a home theater style room that you'll be playing this in? If so, I am quite jealous! Skyrim would be an awesome game to play on a projector screen that size. Like some of the other posters have said, the 4850 is a couple generations behind so if it is pretty choppy you can always upgrade your GPU and it should smooth it out.

Thank you all for your help. The 4850 has allowed me to max Skryim's graphical quality beyond its default settings. There are a few FPS drops and hiccups here and there, but apart from that gameplay is very smooth and I couldn't be happier.

^^^ It cant be any worse than the ps3 performance on skyrim :P, my friend has it for the ps3 and it performs atrociously.

So i would be happy for the few hiccups :D
