Computer Randomly Restarting After Install Of New RAM?

I Just Installed Some New RAM in my computer and after about five minutes after you log in it restarts automatically,
I Am Using 512 MB Of PC-100 RAM This Is My Computer to run older games...
can you guys help?

The new memory is either bad or is incompatible with the existing memory. What computer do you have?

as i said this computer i use for games that wont run on vista or Seven,
It Is An Old Compaq Presario 5461,
500 MHz AMD Processor
PC-100 RAM (Two Sticks Of 256 MB And One Stick Of 128 MB)
Windows 2000 Professional
And Remember I Dont Use This For My Main Computer It Is For Older Games That Dont Run On Vista Or Seven.

The old HP and Compaq pc's were really picky on what memory they liked. Take the new memory out and see if it works correctly. If it does then you have either bad or incompatible ram.

I Took Out The New RAM it Worked Fine Then I Swapped The old ram with the new ram and it worked fine... so i am guessing incompattable RAM?

Yes, the two are not compatible together. The old pc100 memory has always been difficult to run together with different brands.

Surprised it will even read a 512mb. stick. With the 512 in does it show the full amount or does it show it as a 256mb stick.
