First of all, welcome to the Computer Forum~

No... replacing your motherboard will do nothing... replacing a hard drive will though. Unless you reformat it, get AVast, stinger, ect and get rid of the virus, a reformat will do it good. and the cable, youll need a special type of video card. if nyou only have the port for VGA or someting, then no.

ok thanks. so does that mean i wouldnt even have to replace it! just reformat it??
is my os installed on motherboard or hard drive?

and would i need an expensive card to get the comp on tv?

You os installs to your hard drive. And the card should cost to much. You can get a good card for about 120$-250$ and be able to do that and play the latest games. Just make sure its the right type of card for your motherboard.

P.S. Reformatting will work if not then you will have to replace it. Try to reformat it first.

He's a beginner, cmon bear with him... my first cmoputer question was : "Can I get a Western Digital motherboard?"

a geforce Mx200 CAN have the stuff... as with SOME rage fury pro 128s... you have to look for a VGA port and 2 yellow ports or something similar next to it. if you haev this then it will work. if you watn the product key from the computer i would recommend the magic jelly bean software. To find out that type of specs your computer has I recommend PC Wizard... & CPU-Z

Your Motherboard, Is a Standard AGP Slot.

Meaning, You will need to buy a Graphics card Supporting AGP if you wish to update your system.

Your current Card MAY have a S-Video port, Which looks kind of like a Mouse/Keyboard port but just a little Different

If your Graphics card has this, Then there is no need to upgrade.

BUT there is a few problems with using a TV for a second screen / Primary Screen.

They are Blurry, SOME are alright to read off, and are good for movies/Games but when it comes to small text, no good.

As for the Virus situation, sounds like you could do a Re-Format, just Burn everything you want to keep onto disks because unless you didnt know, a Re-Format DELETES everything on your computer.

Good Luck, ill keep watching this page for a couple of days if you have any more Questions.

cool, my card does have the s video port.
my tv is just a standard definiton 51 cm tv, would this be alright, would it get too pixelated or blurry.

also, i have been reading up on reformatting, getting ready for it lol and wanted to know if i will need to buy the full version of xp, or just an upgrade, because the computer already has xp on it.

It would be a good Idea to get the Full version of XP, Re-Formatting can be a easy task, and very useful, find a simple tutorial.

That looks like a good one, Ignore the whole

If you do not know the brand and model of your device, you can check using the System Information utility. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories

2. Point to System Tools and select System Information

3. Explore under the System Information group list to identify the devices

part of it, as that is not nessecary.
What do you want to be using the TV for may i ask? Like Music, Movies, Games, things like that, tvs are awsome for, but when it comes to documents and web browsing, Tv's arent the best...

well, my room is pretty small, and i already have the tv in there instead of having a desk and monitor aswell, just connecting to my tv.

how bad is it for net and word processing?

Its managable, You may like it, but im the Type of person where it has to be CRYSTAL CLEAR...

I mean, yea you can read it, its not to badly pixelated, Well, not on my tiny as tv i had..

Should be fine for you.

Ahaha, I have a Rage Fury Pro 128....it sucks. 32MB and AGP 4x ain't doin' me to good.:(

Yeah... but I think mine dont work... =( it cant even run underground 2! and talk about gaming... whew it sucks...

and if tya neeed any help around installing xp, we're here :D

ok, well if it is alright ill just do that, because ill mainly use it for internet. ive got an xbox 360 so i dont need it for gaming, and the only stuff i will type will be school assignments and stuff like that. what is the actual cord called?

An S-Video Cable.

There Pretty cheap, should be able to pick one up at any electrical store or at any computer store.

Good Luck Mate.
