Computer Rebuild Windows start up issue

Ok, I got tired of my HP Elite m9250f desktop computer. I was having issues with the PSU and Graphics card going out. While working inside it trying to jam everything into the case I decided enough was enough. So I bought a new Full Tower with PSU. I also got rid of the motherboard and replaced it with the one listed below. I had everything back together minus a few things that wouldnt convert to the new set up because HP Parts only seem to be for HP cases. So when I had everything up and turned on. The boot up screen for the motherboard came on, but when Windows 7 tried to load it gave an error start and said it needed to repair itself. It ran its full diagnostic and nothing came up as an issue. Im fairly new to this computer building stuff. But I figured since it is all necessarily the same that the hard drives with all the info shouldve just started up fine as normal or am I wrong? And how do I get windows fixed to actually boot up. Will I need to reload everything from scratch? And if I do will the HP Windows Vista disk work on it or do I need to get the OEM version of windows 7? because I have the upgrade from vista to windows 7. Such a headache. thanks for any ideas.

That's why you're getting the errors. Your HDD has a Windows installation that has the drivers for the old mobo installed.

While it's possible to make it work, this is not the ideal way to "move into" a new hardware set up.

Ideally, you should back up all of your personal data, format the HDD and install Windows 7. Since you don't have a Win7 disc, I recommend installing Vista, then performing the upgrade immediately (before moving your personal data back onto the drive or installing any programs).

But since you already have it installed, you might try just going to the ASUS website and downloading all of the drivers for your motherboard and installing them - that might solve the errors.

Yeah, Im going to tear it apart and put it all back in the HP system then backing all the info into my external HDD. Then format the HDD and reinstall vista then to 7. That was the concensus I got from my friend. LIke I said before... dont know many computer friendly people here on my base.
