it started yesterday. i moved a file from one hard drive to another and explorer froze right after finishing, so i tried to terminate its process. it didn't work, so i just rebooted. now the pc wont come back up.

it will go threw the bios post screens without trouble, then it just sits with a blank screen. i have tried changing the ram with working ram, trying one stick at a time and no luck. due to lack of an os not found error i don't think its a hard drive either. could it be the cpu?

pc specs are in my sig

Reset your BIOS (as per your MoBo manual or just unplug the PSU, press the power button to discharge the capacitors, then pull the MoBo battery for 30 seconds), then power up, then Load Optimal Defaults.

sorry for the late reply, haven't had a chance to do anything yet.

just did that and now its working fine again. thanks for the info.

darn, i should have thought of trying that first.
this isn't the first (or second) time i've had bios problems with the mobo

Most welcome. You'd be surprised how many issues can be fixed by resetting CMOS - it's kind of a generic 'try this first' for a lot of issues just for future reference:)
