Computer Restart

Hello all. I have a desktop computer that has been running well for the last year or so, although it is an older system. Recently, I changed out the hard drive, upgrading to a larger one. After that, the computer would not turn on at all. I took out the CMOS battery for an hour. The computer would then boot. However, it would restart at random intervals. Sometimes it would boot to install windows before restarting, sometimes it would only boot to the screen prompting Del for bios options. What could be wrong? If you need to know any specifications, I have them handy. Thanks in advance.

First i would check to see if you might have moved a power wire around while putting in the new hd. I would check wirings going into the MOBO. Then i would check your ram to see if its good. If all looks well by what your saying about it booting up ... it sounds like your mobo being bad. Where did you get this HD at?

It's a hard drive I've had for a while. A friend and I spent a day trying to trouble shoot the computer. We unplugged and replugged all the wires. Tried a different hard drive, tried different ram, different ram slots. And still the same problem. We tried with both IDE and SATA hard drives.

Did you try unpluggin everything. Then one by one plugging stuff in? Like, don't have anything in there. Then put in one stick of ram. Then the harddrive. Then the cd drives. Then etc
