Computer runs slow... then freezes

Install something such as PC Wizard or HWMonitor and see what your temperatures are. I'm wonder if it's underclocking then overheating... However, it could be other things, such as bad RAM...

I just took out my Gskill ddr2 1gb ram stick and it seems to be running a little bit better. Still running really slow (well yea because its missing 1gb now). But also, firefox wont open and it says restar session and then crashes again.

Virus from firefox?

what about CPU?

It never said, only showed those 2 things...

Im thinking about throwing this comp away. its a 2002 dell haha

I can just get windows 7 tomorrow with my student discount, bootcamp my macbook pro so I can run it. Get a 1T External HD and recover all my stuff off my pc.

That actually sounds like a great idea and cheaper than building a new comp right now. College students don't have much money

does it take forever to boot? or does it just run slow after a few hours? or is it just always slow? run memory diagnostic (if you have vista you can do it before the pc loads)

try throwing a boxfan on the pc and see if it improves at all, if the heatsink is loose it probally wont

also did this just start happening? maybe a driver issue?
