i recently had my computer in a shop to fix a java problem it took two days to fix that they also remove my nod 32 virus scanner and replaced it with avg 8 they also installed somthing called malwarebytes why they did that ill never know now when i start my computer it starts to boot then the screen turns blue and it starts doing a consistincy scan on drive C ? its the same scan you get when your computer freezes and your only option is to shut down the computer using the power button im using xp-pro
2gigs ram M2N asus motherboard Nvidia 8800 GTS video card ive looked in my computer management section and all drives are healthy does any one know how to stop it from doing this scan on start up

The scan is starting from within AVG8. Open AVG click on Tools>Advanced settings>Schedules>Scheduled Scans. Click on "Run at specific time interval". Set the time of day or select the days you want the scan to run.
You may also want to look into the properties of Malwarebytes to see if the scan options there are set.

That usually means your hard drive is going out. Download the drive diagnostic utility from the drive maker and run it and see what it finds out.
