im having a slight problem with my computer. my monitor, (FlexScan L550 17" LCD), is only showing one colour. im not sure how to spell it in english, but its like a mix of blue and green, but brighter. hard to explain, so ill add links to a print screen i just took of my desktop, and the way my background image is supposed to be.

How it should be: http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/4136/p7220064zb1.jpg

How it is: http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/8536/messedupscreenyw9.jpg

:S btw the image how how it is might be the same as the one of how it shold be, i dont know, maybe when i did print screen the computer-thingy ignored the colour bug :S

Well the images are the same... It sounds like your videocard is outputing a correct signal, but your monitor is displaying it incorrectly. Is the entire screen the one color? It may be the screen going out... Might be a short...

:s

well i had the problem on my previous monitor, so i bought a new one, still with the same problem. (my previous monitor was one of those huge old-fashion things) and ive tested it on my old monitor with a brand new and an older video card, and same on the new monitor. still only one colour. and its more like all the colours are dampened in some way, its like white is green-blue-ish, yellow is green, red is grey etc, alll with a slight green-blue-ish touch

btw

one more thing: im using the same wire between the new monitor and my pc as i did with my old monitor, could that be it? im thinking its either that or my motherboard? (the big thing that holds all the lesser cards in place :S)

I bet it's hardware related. I had a computer that acted a similar way. The motherboard eventually died(and it wasn't onboard video, either...)

But of course, try drivers and what not just to be on the safe side.

so theres a chance my motherboard will die in the future? will that have a bad effect on the rest of my computer?

i feel like i should share this: just now, dunno why but it felt like a good idea, i decided to check if the wire was inserted right into my monitor, so i took it, started wiggeling it a little to see if it was tight in there, and i think i heard spark-sounds. didnt get shocked, but i hardly think thats normal? im gonna buy a new wire tomorrow, and hope that fixes it. what you think?

The monitor cable shouldn't spark, even if wires are crossed.

As for the motherboard. Yes, if it goes, nothing will work unless you replace it. Now it could be the video card, so you could try swapping it out...
