Computer shuts down 2 seconds after start

Bad caps shorting in a supply can easily cook a board. but the description of immediate shotdowns when first starting up the system with only fans running and no posting is most one or caps on the board itself. On a new bui;d here the 2-3seconds seen would see the blue leds on the fans as those spun for those few seconds and then everything goes dark.

A bad cpu on the other hand would most likely result in you hearing a constant beeping from the speaker on the board if nothing visual appeard onscreen. With no audio alerts the board becomes the main thing there. Those codes include bad ram along with having a bad video card as another hardware. If you haven't been hearing the single beep when first starting the system the fault is on the board.

Ok i just had it tested at the computer shop and they said the motherboard is at fault..I guess it can happend. I'll try to replace it with warranty.

Bad caps! are the most likely. By the model number it looked like an Asus board you have there. Last year a friend went through 3 A8N SLI Premium boards until advised to choose a different model or go for a different make and model. The other Asus model chossen is still running strong. But those saw nothing when powered up. I just had one here shipped back for replacement.

Can I ask them for a different motherboard of the same value? Or to test it before shipping out? I just REALLY don't want to deal with this for another month.

If you actually speak to someone at the place where the board was ordered from the one question they usually ask is whether you want a board replaced with the same model or plan to substitute. That could even be for a different make as well as model. You have to decide there if you have a preference for the same or will go with some other model to avoid any further problems. Make sure the one you pick suits your needs there however even if there's a slight price difference either way.
