computer shuts off automatically

hello
my computer has been running fine but now out of the blue just suddenly turns off and I don't know why. it goes to the screen where it asks you if you want to start in safe mode or normal mode but as soon as you click any of them it just turns off
I don't really know how to explain it...

If your system is configured to automatically restart when it has an error then it shuts down before you can read what the error is. If so then you will need to going into advanced boot options and click "DISABLE AUTOMATIC RESTART ON SYSTEM FAILURE".

Then reboot and when the error happens you will be able to read what it is.

hello
its a desktop and i wouldn't of thought it was over heating because it it water cooled and has good air flow in the case
and how do i get to the disable automatic restart? im using windows xp
thanks for the help :)

In that case, probably not overheating then....
XP should have very same option, but it may be missing on some Windows installations.

its started to work now and get to the home screen but as soon as i start a game or when it finishes downloading off of a cd it turns off
could it be a faulty cd drive or...
