No joke Im completely serious my computer will actually turn of when I walk away from it. My friend and I have tried every explanation like using different wall jack and making sure the power chord is in place tightly, but everytime I move away from the computer it shuts off. Can someone whose a little more experienced with computer explain to me what is going on. The computer works fine when i sit near it, and I can even move my chair around my desk area without it shutting off, but once I get up from the chair and walk away boom the computer just shuts off.

How does something like that happen and how do I go about getting that fixed? The people who live in the dorm next said it may be my power supply....but I really dont know that much about computer hardware so...Im just looking for suggestions

Before you do anything, try to move the computer chassis itself. Walk away and see if it turns off.

It would be freakier if it turned on when you walk in front of it.

O wait. You should videotape yourself and put it on youtube. They'll have ghosthunters knocking on your dorm.

Dude....sometimes our lights flicker on and off in our room too.....Oh no!!!
But in all seriousness if taking the chasis off removes the problem what would that prove?

I misworded my last post. Just move the whole computer. Put it on the floor if it os on your desk. Just move it and see if the same thing happens.

Why?

Why not.

Seriously though, maybe the computer's mobo is touching the wrong part of the chassis which is touching your desk, which is touching your chair, which is touching your zipper on your hoodie, which is touching your glasses.

Anything is possible.

Maybe am not that experienced to give prudent advices about the said problem, but in my computing experience I have come across to so many weird problems that do seem creepy. In one instance a friend of mine called me up and said he cant start his PC and the system speaker is bleeping randomly, I knew this was the case of RAM not being found or the existing one becoming defective. But no soon I started it, it worked fine. Assuming things were fine I returned home only to get his phone the problem recurred. I revisited his house and the whole event was repeated again!
Any explanation to this friends? Certainly I do not need holy water to be sprinkled to solve this but I could not find any answers to this either.
