Computer shuts off while converting

According to the instructions at videohelp.com I have attempted to use ConvertXToDVD to convert MPEG-4 Movie files to a working DVD. But as the files are supposed to be converting my computer is shut off. During the hot summer days we had last month this happened, but the last three days have been quite cool here. The computer does not shut off when I am doing other normal operations. I have tried this four times with the same results. There is no warning or message the computer simply turns off.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I am using Windows Vista if that helps.

This may sound like a very vague or general statement, but for the most part when things are working fine then after a general amount of time the computer shuts off 9 times out of 10 it's a heat related issue. I say, first run a virus/malware scan, clean out your desktop with compressed air for dust, as well as install:

http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/

This monitors the temperatures of your CPU cores as if it overheating while converting video that means it's most likely the CPU. First though, virus scan and clean out dust with air also run without the side panel and see what happens.

EDIT: Realtemp only works on intel CPU's
